The Earthdawn (IP) has seen multiple rounds of publishing, systems revisions, lore updates (and retcons) over the years, yielding a large body of work filled with amazing stories, great art, and interesting TTRPG gaming mechanics.
A Brief Overview of Earthdawn's Publishing History
Earthdawn was first published by FASA Corporation in 1993 as a high-fantasy counterpart to its cyberpunk sibling, Shadowrun. When FASA ceased publishing in 2001, the Earthdawn license was split. Living Room Games produced a Second Edition with mechanical updates in 2001, while RedBrick Ltd. released Earthdawn Classic in 2005 followed by a formal Third Edition in 2007, updating lore and mechanics. After RedBrick’s closure, several team members formed FASA Games, Inc., acquiring the license and launching Fourth Edition in 2015 through Kickstarter. As of 2025, Fourth Edition remains the current version, with ongoing development.
As the intellectual properties changed hands, several novels have been published at different points in the setting lore. These are listed below.
